Isn’t a girl/female gamer not jumping on the “gamer gurl bandwagon” kind of like a gay not jumping on the whole “gay rights bandwagon”? Vampirekitten makes some good points, and even acknowledges the fact that she gets harassed in video games, and that it’s a major problem, and that men, especially white men, are ignorant fucktards, so why isolate yourself from the female gaming community/”bandwagon”?
Sure some female gamers may annoy you because they advertise the fact that they are a women, but male gamers have always done this too, so where is the “bandwagon” here and why is this “bandwagon” so off-putting to people? It’s like the word feminist, let’s pretend it’s a radical lesbian lumberjack “bandwagon” so that women won’t realize it’s actually in their best interest to say, for example gain voting rights and use birth control.

Let me get this straight, from the looks of your blog you have nothing better to do than to troll women who play video games online/on Tumblr? Amiright? I work in the video game industry, better yet I work in the video game industry in marketing and social media, I also happen to be a respected member of the industry and it doesn’t matter that I am a woman because I don’t act like some trollop craving attention online because I play video games like it’s something special. I am not blind to the fact that harassment happens and you can make damn sure that if it does in fact happen to me that I handle my shit properly. I do believe part of the problem is that women don’t fight back in situations and then run to the nearest computer to go bitch about it because they can’t in fact handle their own shit.

When I stated that I don’t jump on the “gamer gurl bandwagon” I meant that I don’t participate in the commonplace bullshit that goes on on the vast world wide fucking web. I am a gamer… who also happens to have a goddamned vagina (at this point I am assuming that you do not have one), but that doesn’t mean I am going to go out and flaunt my hobby to try and fight some virtual civil war between cyberbullies who can’t mind their manners (children) or men who haven’t gotten laid in their lifetime. Frankly, I don’t care to associate any of that high school fucking bullshit because I don’t care to.
In case you can’t tell by now, I tend to associate with men more so than women who game. Why? because I don’t like the drama and in the end I really don’t like it from either side so I choose to play with friends, mute that shit or block people. I seriously think people are afraid to use the functions that are provided for them to use in case of idiots online. While I am perfectly aware this harassment happens, it’s something that needs to be handled differently from the way it is handled now. Females make up 47% (almost half) of the video game consumer nowadays.
Women need to grow a bigger sack and handle it… Men need to realize that it isn’t some boys only club anymore. Both parties are at fault here and both think they are special, not just one or the other. It shouldn’t be a problem, but until both parties can stop jerking off and play nice in the sand box, it’s not going to happen so why worry about it? Is the bombardment of articles helping, not really because if it were the problem would be fixed now wouldn’t it?
I play video games because it’s what I like to do, not for attention, not because I am special, but because I like to. It relaxes me, it’s an escape, it’s what I do for a living and it’s what I love so fucking deal with it and my opinions.
Oh and enjoy being blocked, because I am exercising my online functions that people should use when they are being harassed.
